The British Automaker wants to move even more upmarket with its next EVs.
This model should be followed by two other SUVs.
Jaguar Land Rover will be officially rebranded as JLR and some of its models will become stand-alone brands.
When Jaguar announced its plans for the future about two years ago, the company said it would abandon all of its current models and replace them with three new EVs that will take its brand further upmarket.
While Jaguar has never been a mainstream automaker, the British company wants to exit the low end of the luxury segment to concentrate on models that approach those of traditionally more upscale brands such as Bentley and Rolls Royce.
The first electric model to follow this new business plan will be a four-door Grand Touring model that has been teased by the automaker earlier today.
This new model will reportedly cost around £100,000 (about $167,400 CAD) and it will use a new platform dubbed JEA for Jaguar Electric Architecture.
While few details are known about it at the moment, Jaguar said that this model will have a targeted range of 430 miles (692 kilometres) using the WLTP testing cycle. North American EPA numbers are expected to be lower, but this new model should still have close to 500 kilometres of advertised range when it arrives in Canada starting in 2025.
We also know that the four-door GT will be manufactured at Jaguar’s Solihull plant in the UK, a facility that currently produces the F-Pace and several Land Rover models, including the new Range Rover.

Production will begin at the end of 2024, which is surprisingly late considering Jaguar aims to only sell electric vehicles by 2025, and it has vowed to discontinue all of its current offerings by then.
This could mean that the upcoming GT will be the only vehicle available in Jaguar showrooms around the world for a time.
The other two electric models that have been announced are expected to be SUVs, but no details have been released about them yet and we don’t know when they should be launched.
Jaguar didn’t only tease the GT today however since it announced its parent company, currently known as Jaguar Land Rover, will be rebranded as JLR ahead of its complete shift to electric power.
More than a new name, this change should bring about diversification of the automaker’s brands, with iconic models such as the Discovery and the Defender becoming standalone brands alongside Jaguar and Range Rover. This seems to imply that the Land Rover name will be phased out.
Speaking of Range Rover, the company says it is now taking orders for the electric version of the current SUV that will arrive in 2024. In addition, a smaller electric model built on the upcoming EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) platform will be added to the Range Rover sub-brand in 2025.
Given the fairly tight time frame in which all of this is supposed to happen, more details on upcoming Jaguar and Land Rover models could be released quite soon.
