“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” introduces the Maximals faction and features a Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 Autobot.
Partnership with Porsche ensures authentic representation, using replica cars and original engine sounds for the Mirage character.
Embarking on a high-octane, globe-trotting journey, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” reintroduces audiences to the action-packed spectacle this summer. The film invigorates the franchise by debuting a novel Transformer faction, the Maximals, allied with the Autobots in Earth’s defence.
Uniquely, the Autobot “Mirage” embodies the legendary Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 (964), augmenting the Autobots’ valour. The choice reflects the movie’s 1994 setting and mirrors Mirage’s robust yet compassionate persona, coupled with occasional rebelliousness, according to Oliver Hoffmann, Porsche AG’s Head of Marketing Communications.
Only 55 units of the historic Carrera RS 3.8 were ever produced, turning Mirage’s car form into an extremely rare on-screen icon. To preserve these precious vehicles, the movie utilized five picture cars, externally identical to the original 964. These served distinct functions, including high-speed reverse driving and stunt sequences. An authentic sound touch, essential for Porsche and Paramount, was ensured by using a genuine 911 RS 3.8’s engine sound, making Mirage as realistic as possible.
Irene Trachtenberg, SVP Worldwide Marketing Partnerships at Paramount, expressed exhilaration over the partnership with Porsche, which resulted in bringing Mirage to life, capturing the adventurous spirit of the Autobot and car form in a remarkable and memorable way.
“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”, directed by Steven Caple Jr., featuring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, promises a dynamic cinematic experience and a fresh take on a beloved franchise, set to hit theatres in June 2023.
