You might recall that the DeLorean needed exactly 1.21 gigawatts of power to travel in time.
This charging-network milestone coincidentally now contains the same amount of power.
Porsche puts together an incredible video to mark the occasion.
The famous “1.21 gigawatts of power” from the beloved Back to the Future movie franchise is no longer part of science-fiction lore. Today, thanks to the ever-growing network of chargers, EV owners and, in this case, Porsche Taycan drivers, have access to 1,210,000,000 watts of charging power.
This amount of power, if you recall, was necessary in order for the modified DeLorean built by Doc Brown to travel through time. This milestone was coincidentally achieved on October 21th, or Back to the Future Day.
In typical Porsche fashion, they produced a video that stars the German sports car company’s rising star, the Taycan, as well as the beloved DeLorean. The gullwing-ed time machine sports the “OUTATIME” plate while, if you look carefully, the Taycan’s reads “INTIME”.
This refers to the fact that with the global charging network’s growth, EV owners will have more time to drive and less of it spent charging.
