The Rivian R2 will Start at $48,490 in the U.S., with the Launch Edition Priced from $57,990

  • The R2 SUV will join the R1S and R1T in the automaker’s lineup this spring.

  • The R2 will offer up to 656 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque, with up to 531 km of range.

  • Three trim levels will be offered, with Premium and Standard trim levels being added later in 2026 and in early 2027, respectively.

Rivian has now announced more details, including U.S. pricing for its upcoming mid-size R2 electric SUV, which will arrive this spring.

In its home market, this new model will start at $48,490, but early buyers will have to spend more to get their hands on one of the launch editions.

Indeed, Rivian will first introduce the R2 Performance trim level with Launch Package, which will be priced from $57,990.

This grade of R2 will include a more powerful dual motor all-wheel drive powertrain that delivers 656 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque, making it the fastest and most off-road capable of the three variants that will be offered.

This output should be sufficient for a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint of 3.6 seconds, while the EPA estimated range is set at 531 kilometers.

R2 Performance

The R2 Performance will also include a semi-active suspension system, yellow painted brake callipers and badging, a black interior with birch wood accent, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, 12-way power driver and passenger seats, a 9-speaker premium audio system, a roll-down rear glass, Matrix LED headlamps, integrated tow hooks, 21-inch alloy wheels, and eight drive modes (All-Purpose, Conserve, Snow, All-Terrain, Rally, Soft Sand, Sport and Launch Mode).

The Launch Package, which will be standard on the first units rolling off the production line, adds the Autonomy+ hands-free driver assistance system for the life of the vehicle, the tow package (4,400 lb capacity), a green anodized key fob, and the possibility to opt for an extra cost Launch Green paint colour.

The first two of these upgrades will also be available on R2 Performance models without the Launch Package, in addition to black 20-inch alloy wheels, the Coastal Cloud Signature interior with Birch accents, and numerous exterior colours.

R2 Premium

Arriving later in 2026 is the mid-range R2 Premium trim level, which will be priced from $53,990 in the United States.

This version will be powered by a de-tuned Dual Motor all-wheel drive system that generates 450 horsepower and 537 lb-ft of torque, for a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) time of 4.6 seconds, along with the same estimated range of 531 km.

In addition, the R2 Premium will be equipped with the same features found on the Performance grade, apart from the active suspension, yellow badging, and three of the drive modes (Rally, Soft Sand, and Launch mode).

This model will also come with bi-colour 20-inch alloy wheels instead of the 21-inch units included in the Performance trim.

Said 21-inch wheels will be optional, however, as will be the Autonomy+ system, the Coastal Cloud interior with birch accents, and the 4,400-pound tow package.

R2 Standard

Finally, the entry-level R2 Standard will become available in the first half of 2027 at a starting price of $48,490.

This model will feature a single motor rear-wheel drive Long Range powertrain that generates 350 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque, which should be sufficient for a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint of 5.9 seconds. Range for this variant is estimated at 555 kilometers.

Standard features on this model include a black interior, heated front seats and steering wheel, a 12-way power driver’s seat and an 8-way power passenger seat, a 5-speaker audio system, four drive modes (All-Purpose, Conserve, Snow and Sport), and 19-inch graphite alloy wheels.

Here, options include the same Dual Motor powertrain as in the R2 Premium, the Autonomy+ driver assistance system, 20-inch bi-colour alloy wheels, and the tow package.

A more affordable R2 standard will be added later in 2027, but we don’t have any details about this trim level apart from its expected range, which is estimated at 443 kilometers, and its starting price, which should be about $45,000 in the U.S.

Reservations are now open, requiring a $100 refundable deposit.

Canadian pricing will be announced closer to the Rivian R2’s market launch, in the coming months.
