It will be the first all-electric sedan from VW’s ID. family of EVs.
The car that will be unveiled is headed to China.
The North American and European version’s will be presented in 2023.
We are getting very close to seeing the final production version of the Volkswagen ID. Aero. What started out as the ID. Vizzion concept more than 18 months ago will soon become reality. We are truly excited if mostly for one selfish reason: The sooner the production ID. Aero arrives, the sooner the Touring, aka wagon, hits the road.
We’re still quite a ways away from that day, unfortunately. The car we will see next week is bound for China first, sometime in the second half of 2023. The North American and European versions won’t be officially revealed until 2023. And only after that will production begin for our market at the Volkswagen plant in Emden.
The sketch shown above shows a marked design evolution in the Aero’s rear quarters however the car’s flanks seem almost identical to the first concepts. As we know, the first electric car from VW will be based on the brand’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) and be offered with a single or dual electric motor configuration.
We’re going to venture a guess and presume the ID. Aero will arrive in North America in mid-2024. Sadly, that probably means the ID. Tourer will not come before mid-2025.
