The ID.X has 329 horsepower and AWD.
Also included is a dedicated Drift Mode.
It’s on LinkedIn, of all places, that Volkswagen CEO Ralf Brandstätter revealed the ID.X concept, or perhaps what will eventually be known as the test-mule for an upcoming ID.3 R. There can be little doubt that this is what the ID.X is the shared specs hint at some serious performance.
The Volkswagen ID.3 can be specified with up to 201 horsepower and this version offers an impressive 329 horsepower or 27 more than the recently introduced ID.4 GTX. What’s more, the ID.X tips the scale at 200kg (440lbs) less than a standard ID.3.
Autocar reports that ID.X sports the ID.4 GTX’s dual electric motor setup. The regular ID.3 is only offered with a rear-mounted motor as the MEB platform, for this car was believed to be unable to accommodate a second motor.
The combination of the extra power, AWD, and weight loss results in a 0-100km/h sprint time of only 5.3 seconds. Driving enthusiasts will be interested to know that the concept also features a drift mode, a function that will be offered on the all-new MK8 Golf R.
Despite the fact that the ID.X will not be built, we all know Volkswagen is planning to introduce an R version of the ID.3 for 2024.
