It will rival the Tesla Model S Plaid.
Output guestimates start at 1,000hp.
It seems like only yesterday that Porsche revealed the Mission E concept. In fact, the concept’s introduction took place almost five years ago and it was nearly 4.5 years ago that the name was made public. Fast forward to today and Porsche’s already working on a mid-cycle refresh of its first EV and a new high-powered triple-motor version.
Porsche has shown that it can build some seriously fast cars, be they powered by petrol or electrons. At the moment, the Taycan Turbo S remains the fastest-ever production EV to lap the Nurburgring. Funny story: Tesla’s Musk touted repeatedly some time ago that his Model S Plaid was going to reset the record but that remains to be seen. Be that as it may, the Plaid is currently one of the fastest-accelerating production cars in the world thanks to its triple-motor layout.
Spy shots shared by autoexpress show a Porsche Taycan wearing a more aggressive front bumper, ceramic brakes, and the most obvious sign of more power and speed, a large rear spoiler. According to the source story, this new Taycan sports three electric motors which should produce at least 1,000hp. The Model S Plaid’s got 1,020hp on tap so we’re convinced Porsche will extract a little more than that and leave room for an OTA which will unlock more power in the future.
As for pricing, a Taycan Turbo S starts at just over $222,000 CDN. We can easily imagine a $50,000 bump for what could be a Taycan Turbo GT. In contrast, the Tesla Model S Plaid starts at $176,600.
