Boy gets into argument with his mother.
Boy gets into the family SUV and drives away.
Boy was headed to California from Utah to buy a Lamborghini.
We’re amazed and terrified all at once with this boy’s story. Terrified because all writers at Motor Illustrated have kids, between the ages of 16 and 1, and we’re way overdue for one of them to leave the house with a car. Amazed, because this 5-year old Utah boy managed to grab the keys to the family Dodge Journey and head out on the highway, and not crash. The kid got into an argument with his mother over the purchase of a Lamborghini, which he of course lost. It was at this point that he decided to take matters into his own hands.
On Monday, a Utah Trooper pulled over an SUV for weaving through traffic on the interstate. The Trooper was expecting to find an impaired driver at the wheel but it happened to be a 5-year old boy named Adrian. He had driven 2 miles from home when the Utah State Trooper spotted him. As though by a miracle, Adrian was able to safely pull over and bring the Journey to a stop. Once the trooper caught up to the boy, the trooper had to put the SUV in Park for the kid.
Thankfully, no one was hurt and we are impressed with Adrian’s driving skills. We think he should be strapped in behind the wheel of a go-kart before long and who knows, by the time he hits 18, he might be able to buy a whole fleet of Lamborghinis!
