The new electric Sierra will be built on the Ultium Platform.
The Hummer EV is also assembled on this structure.
The GMC Sierra EV’s official reveal happens next year.
This first look at the upcoming all-electric GMC Sierra is less of a glimpse and barely a teaser. The only clear elements are the grille and the familiar red GMC letters.
The new electric Sierra will launch as the ultimate Denali trim meaning the truck will be loaded and expensive.
“Sierra Denali holds tremendous equity for GMC and our customers,” said Duncan Aldred, GMC vice president. “We now have an opportunity to evolve Sierra’s capabilities and technologies, as afforded by transitioning to an all-electric propulsion while also elevating the luxurious design and comfort associated with Denali.”
It will be assembled on GM’s Ultium Platform, the same that underpins the two electric GMC Hummer vehicles. Knowing this, we can assume they will share many components.
Officially, the truck will be revealed next year and will be assembled in General Motors’ Factory ZERO Assembly Plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan.
