Production to start later this year
Hatchback will remain part of best-selling lineup
Honda is showing its first official shot of the all-new 2022 Honda Civic. The styling of the sedan has been seriously dialled down compared with the current model, but the hatchback will continue. Expect production to start soon with a full reveal at the end of the month.
It looks just like the 2022 Civic Prototype Honda put on display in November, marking the 11th-generation of the best-selling car in Canada. Honda says that “designers and engineers prioritized Honda’s human-centred design philosophy, which maximizes the total environment for the driver and passengers, while minimizing the space needed for mechanical components.” Which is to say they did more of what they do with the Civic every generation. It’s much more restrained than the somewhat criticised current car, this time looking like an Accord that shouldn’t have been put in the dryer but was.
The 2022 Honda Civic will continue to be built in Alliston, ON. Honda has also confirmed that the hatchback model will live on despite the closure of the British factory where that model is currently built. Instead, the next-generation Civic hatchback, which will follow the sedan by several months, will be built in Indiana.
Expect more photos, including the interior, and the full list of specifications on April 28th.
