The car community is hungry for more juicy details about the recently announced 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. What is known is that it will be the most track-focused non-forced-fed Mustang ever. And while we don’t have official power numbers yet, we’ve got a very good idea of what it will sound like.
What we do know about the Dark Horse is that its new 5.0L V8 engine will produce at least 500hp or the most ever for a naturally-aspirated V8 in a ‘Stang. The power will be set to the rear wheels via a Tremec-sourced 6-speed manual (as fitted in the car in the video) or an optional 10-speed automatic.
Historically, 5.0L engines have been blessed with the best V8 sounds, and the new Dark Horse sounds as though it will not disappoint. Ford’s press releases on the Mustang Dark Horse do not elaborate on what type of exhaust system the car gets however the V8 is thoroughly reworked with a dual throttle-body intake design to improve engine breathing and upgraded internals.
No matter what, the new 2024 S650 Mustang Dark Horse sounds properly aggressive.
