Top 10 Longest-Lasting Vehicles in North America

These vehicles have a 300% or greater chance of covering 250,000 miles or more

  • The top 10 vehicles are trucks and SUVs.

  • Toyota vehicles account for 1/3 of the top 23 longest-lasting vehicles.

There are so many reasons why this list of long-lasting vehicles is important and disturbing. It’s been argued that a “green” vehicle is one that lasts a long time and that covers plenty of ground in its lifetime. The unfortunate reality of this list is that all of these vehicles are heavy drinkers to fuel-a-holics.

Even so, with the right amount of maintenance, these 10 (the full list includes 23 models) vehicles have a 40% or greater chance to reach 250,000 miles (400,000 km) than the average car, truck, or SUV. Of the top 10, four are Heavy Duty full-size pickups which are typically workhorses designed to go the distance. The other six are “regular” vehicles.

The most noteworthy marker here is that, of the six, five are Toyota SUVs or trucks. And if you’re wondering where the first car shows up, well it’s in 11th position and it’s also a Toyota, in this case, an Avalon.

“It’s not surprising to see so many trucks, including heavy-duty trucks, on this list,” said iSeeCars.com Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “Trucks like the Ford F-Series Super Duty are work vehicles, often purchased by businesses to serve as a key resource driving a company’s success. We’ve also seen models like the Toyota Land Cruiser and Sequoia consistently displaying a long potential lifespan when looking at the market data.”
