It’s got 4×4, huge tires, and loads of ground clearance.
The bus is built on an upgraded heavy-duty MAN truck chassis.
This school bus takes the Battle Wagon trend to a whole other level. A Battle Wagon is a “regular” car or SUV that’s been lifted, fitted with oversized tires and a number of other off-road-correct accessories. These TORUS PRAETORIAN buses are far more than simply lifted vehicles.
The PRAETORIAN bus was designed to tackle the most challenging school runs in the harshest environments around the world. It is a revised version of the PRAETORIAN already produced by TORSUS which has its HQ in the Czech Republic and manufacturing factory in Slovakia. The bones of the bus, which can carry up to 35 passengers, come from a heavy-duty MAN truck structure.
The chassis is fitted with all the standard bus’ heavy-duty off-road features including a 6.9-litre diesel engine, a rugged off-road suspension that enables up to 40 cm of ground clearance, massive off-road tires, and more. The PRAETORIAN can also wade into water up to 90 cm deep.
Onboard, the bus is fitted with polymer-coated seats styled around mathematics and science designs. They are equipped with a seat belt suitable for all ages while foldable armrests and hip support bars on the aisle side are available.
Vakhtang Dzhukashvili, CEO of TORSUS, said: “The PRAETORIAN by TORSUS is made to be adaptable and versatile, so naturally we are looking at other ways the bus can be used in various situations around the world. The school bus was one of the first ideas we had, as the PRAETORIAN is a safe and solid vehicle that we know can keep its occupants protected in even the most testing of conditions. Wherever in the world customers might need a school bus solution for safely and efficiently driving on testing terrain, the PRAETORIAN SCHOOL BUS is an option that will deliver every time.”
