Modellista gives Toyota, Lexus models styling tweaks
Coming to SEMA ahead of possible North American launch
Toyota‘s own in-house customization and styling company is coming to North America. Modellista has announced it will start here by showcasing three models it will bring to the SEMA show in November.
Since 1997, Modellista has been selling kits to help buyers make their Toyota and Lexus models their own. The company is part of Toyota Customizing and Development and says its name means “Designer,” if you’re wondering.
The first of the three models for SEMA is the Lexus LX. The Modellista LX gets new chrome parts to create a new grille look. It also has stainless steel running boards and more wing-shaped chrome at the rear. Modellista also adds its own 22-inch wheels.
The Modellista Lexus RX’s details are similar. A new lower front bumper, new side skirts, changes at the rear, and new wheels. The changes aren’t huge, but, well, they’re aimed at Toyota and Lexus buyers so that’s probably not a surprise.
Last on the list is the Crown, which once again gets a body kit that makes the hybrid sedan look just a bit more special. The idea behind the brand’s designs is “inspired by Tokyo.”
The company hasn’t committed to fully launching in the U.S. This is more of a preview to help the company decide. If Toyota does bring the brand over, it could sell parts for nine of the company’s vehicles.
