The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra has only just arrived and already it’s proving to be a hot commodity. And while the irons’ hot, Toyota is striking by introducing a new ultra-premium trim called Capstone Grade.
Powering the Tundra Capstone is Toyota’s new i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain. The twin-turbo V6 engine but features a unique motor generator that produce a combined system output of 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. The power is fed to a 10-speed automatic and to all four wheels.
This version will feature a number of visual upgrades starting with unique 22-inch wheels, the largest ever fitted to a Tundra. It’ll sport a specific Capstone grille with a colour-keyed outer frame, and many subtle-yet-eye-catching chrome touches including mirror caps, chrome “TUNDRA” tailgate inserts, and chrome trim accents. Also part of the package are automatic running boards.
The cabin is swathe in semi-aniline leather, dark American walnut, and will include a 12.3-inch digital Multi-Informational Display, a 10-inch colour Head-Up Display, and a 14-inch high-definition touchscreen display that offers the new built-in Toyota Multimedia system. The latter will operate seamlessly with the integrated Intelligent Assistant accessible through Drive Connect. Commands will include a simple phrase like “Hey Toyota” to begin the interaction.
The 2022 Tundra Capstone grade will be offered in one body configuration: CrewMax with a 5.5-foot bed. Available colours include Wind Chill Pearl, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Celestial Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red, and Blueprint. It arrives at dealerships this spring.
