Toyota names upcoming flagship supercar GR GT, ahead of its December 5 global reveal.
Teaser video hints at a twin-turbo V8 engine and wide-body styling.
A GT3 race version and Lexus performance variants are expected to follow.
Toyota has confirmed the name of its upcoming performance flagship as the GR GT, ahead of the vehicle’s official unveiling scheduled for December 5 in Japan. A teaser video features design cues and engine audio, revealing new details ahead of the model’s world premiere.
The GR GT appears alongside Toyota’s earlier performance models, the 2000GT and LFA, in a television commercial that transitions through each vehicle’s engine note. The clip begins with the 2000GT’s inline-six, moves to the LFA’s glorious V10, and concludes with what appears, or more precisely sounds, like a V8 powering the new GR GT.
The video shows the street-legal GR GT with visual obscuration, though enough detail is visible to identify wide rear fenders and light signatures that mirror those of the upcoming 2026 GR010 Le Mans hypercar. We can spot hints from the outgoing GR Supra and the Lexus LC, as the vehicles are shown without camouflage for the first time.

Toyota has not released technical specifications, but the GR GT is believed to be powered by a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine. It remains unclear whether the engine will be part of a hybrid powertrain, though this seems likely given Toyota’s powertrain direction and objectives.
In addition to the production model, Toyota is developing a GT3-class endurance racing version. The same V8 engine platform is expected to underpin future Lexus vehicles, including a potential production version of the Lexus Sport Concept.

While Toyota has not disclosed pricing, industry estimates easily place the GR GT in the six-figure range, likely starting around $150,000 (roughly $200k CDN). This would position it below the $375,000 LFA while exceeding the pricing of existing Lexus performance models such as the RC F. The company is expected to avoid direct price competition with ultra-luxury performance brands.
The GR GT will be revealed online on December 5 in Japan, with North American viewers likely to see the unveiling on December 4 due to the time difference. A public debut will follow at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, held January 9–11.
