Multiple reveals expected next week
Sketch shown could be one of several models
Toyota is teasing us with a new model, set to be revealed next week. They’re showing us just four lines of the new vehicle, which certainly looks like a crossover, but is that enough for us to tell exactly what it is?
“Even the most iconic works of art are born from a simple sketch. It’s only when the art takes form that it begins to possess the power to cross all boundaries.” reads the teaser text from Toyota.
But what is it?
It turns out that there are quite a few Toyota models that wear key lines that look very much like this sketch. Chunky, swooping fenders, the rising bodyline, and the extended roofline.
The most likely suspects? One, the Toyota Corolla Cross, a small crossover that slots in between the C-HR and RAV4 in size. It was first launched in Thailand around this time last year and was recently spotted testing in the US. With the ever-expanding crossover segment having a few small gaps to fill, this one seems like a possibility for reveal on June 2.
There is also the Toyota bZ4X, the first in the brand’s new bZ line of fully electric models. The first concept of the line, which is expected to jump to seven models by 2025, looks a great deal like this outlined shape, and hasn’t yet been shown in North America. This is Toyota’s new EV platform that was designed along with Subaru and can be expanded to fit a wide range of vehicles.
So which model will it be? We’ll let you know on June 2nd, as soon as we find out.
