Toyota will invest $10B in new U.S. auto plants, according to former President Trump.
Announcement was made aboard USS George Washington during Trump’s Japan visit with PM Takaichi.
Specifics on plant locations or production plans have not yet been disclosed by Toyota.
Toyota will invest $10 billion toward new automotive manufacturing plants in the United States, U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday during a speech in Tokyo Bay.
The announcement came aboard the USS George Washington, where Trump addressed American sailors as part of his ongoing regional tour of Asia. According to Trump, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi informed him earlier in the day that Toyota would increase its production presence across the U.S.
“I was just told by the prime minister that Toyota is going to be putting auto plants all over the United States to the tune of $10 billion,” Trump said. He added, “So that’s Toyota — so go out and buy a Toyota.”

Trump’s remarks were delivered from the deck of the 4.5-acre nuclear-powered aircraft carrier alongside Prime Minister Takaichi, who joined him at the podium to make brief comments. The event marked a focal point of Trump’s three-nation diplomatic trip, during which he emphasized trade deals and manufacturing ties.
The President also praised Takaichi for considering the purchase of Ford F-150 pickup trucks for government use, citing it as another example of bilateral support between the two countries.
Toyota has not yet issued an official statement detailing the scope or location of the new investment. The company already operates multiple vehicle and engine production plants in the U.S., employing tens of thousands of workers across states including Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
No further details regarding the timeline or specific nature of Toyota’s pledged investments were provided during the announcement.
