2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Review: Near Future-Proof Family Transportation
Although Toyota is keeping tight-lipped about the all-new Grand Highlander’s design, they have released a teaser image to give us a glimpse of what’s to come. The images reveal a tailgate with taillights different from those found on the current 2023 Highlander but not so different from the Sequoia’s… Another difference is the horizontal chrome bar that joins the two. It is possible that these features, among others, will find their way onto the 2024 Highlander. Time will tell.
It is expected that the new Grand Highlander will be longer but not necessarily wider than the current Highlander. And although specifics haven’t been released yet, Toyota has indicated that the new Grand Highlander will have standard three-row seating for up to eight passengers.
The 2023 Toyota Highlander was the recent recipient of a new 265-horsepower, 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which also delivers a generous 310 lb-ft serving of torque. We can safely assume the Grand Highlander will feature the same powertrain. A hybrid version should also be in the cards.
We’ll find out more early next year as Toyota has announced that the world premiere of the all-new Grand Highlander will take place on February 8, 2023—the eve of the Chicago Auto Show. Full details and specifications about the SUV will be released at that time.
