Updated 2022 Volkswagen Jetta Priced from $22,595 in Canada

Nearing its 42nd birthday, the Volkswagen Jetta carries on into 2022 with plenty of updates

  • The sporty 2022 Jetta GLI will start at $31,595.

  • The Jetta gains the turbocharged 1.5-litre engine from the Taos.

The Volkswagen Jetta was introduced in Canada in 1980 and quickly became a favorite compact car for those who favour and continue to enjoy a dynamic driving experience. Although the Golf is officially no longer offered in North America, the Jetta enters the 2022 model year with numerous updates.

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta will be powered by the Taos’ turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. The GLI retains the services of the boosted 2.0-litre EA888 engine which produces 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. All get revised front and rear fascias with LED lights and Volkswagen’s digital cockpit as standard.

The base 2022 Jetta Trendline starts at $22,595 (6M) or $23,995 (8A). It will include heated cloth seats, a leather-wrapped heated multi-function steering wheel, a 6.5-inch display, App-Connect smartphone integration (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay), and a number of safety features such as Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection); Hill-hold assist, and more.

The Comfortline trim is priced at $25,595 (6M) or $26,995 (8A). It features rain-sensing wipers, SiriusXM satellite radio, an 8.0-inch display, keyless entry and push-button start, wireless App-Connect and charging, power driver sport seat, leatherette seating surfaces as well as Blind Spot Monitoring, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more.

2022 Volkswagen Jetta gets Facelift, New Engine, and More Tech

The 2022 Jetta Highline starts at $29,595 (8A included). Standard features include Adaptive Front-lighting System, heated outboard rear seats, heated windshield wiper park, leather,  ventilated front seats, Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro with 10.25-inch display, BeatsAudio sound, and satellite navigation.

The GLI starts at $31,595 ($100 more than the new GTI) for the manual transmission and $32,995 with the 7-speed DSG. It will be delivered with the VAQ electronically-controlled torque-sensing limited-slip differential and XDS, adaptive damping system, Driving Mode Selection, sport exhaust, keyless entry and push-button start, power driver seat with memory and lumbar support, leather seating surfaces, heated and ventilated front sport seats, black headliner, black rear spoiler and black exterior mirror housings, Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro with 10.25-inch display, and way more.

The new Jetta and Jetta GLI arrive in Canadian dealerships early in 2022.
