The timing coincides with the GTI weekend meet on Lake Wörthersee, which will not take place again.
The latest-generation Polo was introduced recently.
The car’s premiere will take place at the end of June 2021.
The Volkswagen Polo is among one of the German automaker’s most successful nameplates in history. With more than 18 million units built, it continues to offer style, affordability, and a superb driving experience. Of all versions of the microcar, the GTI is most anticipated.
Volkswagen has shared official sketches of the Polo GTI. The timing of the images coincides with the GTI weekend meet on Lake Wörthersee that has occurred every year for the last four decades, or almost. Unfortunately, the 2021 and 2020 editions of the GTI Treffen were canceled due to COVID.
Nevertheless, the new Volkswagen Polo GTI is coming. The sketches show an aggressively and determined sport compact hatchback with a wide purposeful front along with the signature red accents. Like the MK6 Polo GTI, the updated version will feature a turbocharged engine that will drive the front wheels. And it will be fantastic to drive.
Back in 2018, we attended the Wörthersee GTI meeting and got to drive the then all-new MK6 Polo GTI. We loved and are convinced the updated GTI will be impressive. We’ll know more at the end of June.
