They will be powered by a 62-kWh battery pack.
At this price in the US, it will be for a RWD example.
Range is estimated at 200 miles or 320 km.
Volkswagen in North America made a number of leadership changes recently. One of them will see Scott Keogh, ex-President, and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, and CEO of Volkswagen North American Region, become President and CEO of the newly established company Scout. It was under his watch that the Group introduced the ID.4, ID. Buzz and Audi e-tron to market.
The ID.4 became an instant hit with North American buyers. In fact, the only real problem has been feeding the demand for the electric SUV. VW’s plans included building the ID.4 (and Buzz, and others) in the US and it will soon pay off.
Volkswagen will take advantage of its plant in Tennessee to introduce a smaller battery size and a slightly de-contented version of the ID.4 for the 2023 model year. With a new 62 kWh battery and with a single motor (RWD layout), the SUV’s starting price could drop to $35,000 in the US, from the current base price of $41,230, according to autoblog. The range will drop from a maximum estimated 275 miles (442 km) to about 200 miles (320 km).
Volkswagen will share more details in the near future.
