Volkswagen Canada Removes Features from 2023 ID.4 Option Package Due to Part Shortages

Part shortages have forced Volkswagen Canada to create two different versions of the option package

  • The Statement package loses a few components.

  • The price is reduced to reflect the package’s new content.

This isn’t exactly the end of the world or even a deal-breaker for new 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 buyers. This does serve however as a reminder that global part shortages are still very much a problem, Volkswagen Canada will cut elements out of its popular optional Statement Package and reduce the price.

Battery Problems will Lead to a Volkswagen EV Recall

Said package retailed for $5,000 and included numerous features such as a VW premium sound system, Area View, and power-folding side-view mirrors. These are the functions that have been deleted from the package, if only temporarily.

New 2023 Volkswagen ID.4s built from last week (week 38) with the optional package will not include the VW Premium audio, Area View, and power-folding side-view mirrors. As such, the package’s price will be reduced to $4,200. Volkswagen expects that, by November 14th (week 46), the Statement package will include the latter two elements however will not get the Premium audio system. At this point, pricing will be set from $4,700.

Both versions of the package might be built at the same time depending on parts availability. Dealers are now tasked with confirming the changes with order-holders.
