Volkswagen Continues On Its E-Offensive

The giant German automaker has made it clear over the last little while that it plans on owning the electric car market before long. With constant news about battery production, its MEB electric vehicle platform and an incredible slew of concepts, from the I.D. series, to the Porsche Taycan and the latest Audi e-Tron GT concept, the only missing link is where they will all be built.

While we know Porsche and Audi will do their things their way, VW as a larger problem as the goal will be volume – massive volume – and making them affordable. It would appear as though they plan on assembling many of these $30,000 to $40,000 e-cars on American soil. As of yet, no firm location has been decided upon however the existing Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, could be an option.

Every major automaker is working hard to deliver that all-important affordable EV to the masses. Building in the US for the North American market would be the ideal scenario for any OEM to find success at this level.
