At long last, we will finally see the Volkswagen Golf 8.
- Volkswagen Golf 8 will debut on October 24th
- The new-generation Volkswagen Golf will offer an electrified powertrain
- The first Golf was launched in 1974
- Over 35 million Golf models have sold since then
It was scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show, but the Volkswagen Golf 8 was pushed back to give more visibility to the new electric Volkswagen ID.3. Now that the ID has been unveiled, we can turn our attention to the 8th generation of one of the industry’s most iconic vehicles. Over 35 million Volkswagen Golf models have been sold worldwide since it debuted in 1974.
Motor1 learned that the event will take place in Wolfsburg, Germany at 18:00 CEST on the 24th, which means noon EST. According to the email obtained by Motor1, the new Golf will feature a new design as well as a few electrified powertrain options. Obviously there aren’t any specific details on the VW Golf 8, but we can speculate.
We don’t expect to see a three-door Golf nor will the new generation include a Sportwagen or Alltrack until at least 2022. North Americans may get a new-generation e-Golf before getting the ID.3 and we are certainly curious to learn more about the Golf 8’s electrified powertrains.
As you can clearly tell, we’re trying to up the word count here because we really don’t know anything about the new Volkswagen Golf 8. That will change on October 24th.
