Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen and Alltrack Will Get 2nd Generation

When the next generation Volkswagen Golf rolls around, it will include wagons.

A Volkswagen press release has confirmed what we all hoped. The next generation Golf will include a Golf Sportwagen as well as a Golf Alltrack when it debuts before the end of the year.

Both Volkswagen wagons will likely debut next year with models arriving in North America as 2021 models. Volkswagen announced earlier this year that only the Golf R and GTI will be offered in the US. In Canada, we will still get both wagons for 2020 but they won’t be the new generation.

Still, this is good news if you like Volkswagen wagons and you should like VW wagons. There was some uncertainty in regards to the next generation Golf wagon, however, especially given all the changes happening to the lineup for 2020.

Well, you can put any fears of the next-gen Golf Sportwagen and Alltrack not happening to bed. We also learned in the same press release that Volkswagen would shift Golf production from its plant in Zwickau to Wolfsburg, Germany.
