Spy photographers everywhere are cursing at Volkswagen who keeps releasing its own teaser images of the new ID.3
The Volkswagen ID.3 electric vehicle is set to be revealed in less than two weeks at the Frankfurt Auto Show. To keep us busy as we wait, Volkswagen has revealed periodic teaser pictures of the ID.3 with the same funky light green (some say blue) and red camouflage. The latest shows the new VW EV on the road in full stride.
What we don’t see, however, is the new Volkswagen logo expected to debut on the ID.3 in Frankfurt. We’re guessing VW is keeping the surprise for the show.
The Volkswagen ID.3 will be the first volume fully-electric vehicle from Volkswagen and the first in a line of upcoming EVs set to debut before 2025. The ID.3 will offer three battery sizes starting with a 45-kWh battery pack in the entry-level model. A 58-kWh pack as well as a 77-kWh pack will be available with 550 kilometres of range. Entry-level models will have 205 kilometres of range. The idea here is to compete directly with the various options available in the Tesla Model 3.
According to Volkswagen, the ID.3 will get 290 kilometres of range in just 30 minutes with pricing set at less than 30,000 euros. We’re thinking the ID.3 would be priced at less than $45,000 here in Canada in order to get both government incentives.
The Volkswagen ID.3 will compete with the Model 3, but also the Chevrolet Bolt, Hyundai Kona EV, and Nissan LEAF.
