Volkswagen ID.4 Electric SUV To Bow in New York in April

Sources reveal that the upcoming Volkswagen ID.4 will be officially unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April.

  • The next member of Volkswagen’s ID. family, the ID.4 will be revealed next April
  • The unveiling will be held during the 2020 New York Auto Show
  • A new ID.5 model could also be introduced according to speculations

In September, during the Frankfurt Auto Show, Volkswagen teased its next electric compact crossover. The vehicle displayed on the show floor was wrapped all around in green and black camouflage.

Meanwhile, the shape of the teased ID.CROZZ Concept looked much more like the current Tiguan then the original coupe-like concept.

It was revealed by Automotive News, that this North American bound ID. family member would be named the ID.4.

Today, British car magazine Autocar reports that the Volkswagen ID.4 will make its debut on the stage of the New York Auto Show this April.

Autocar is adding that the new ID. SUV will come in two different versions, a “regular” model and a coupe. According to the British magazine, the Tiguan-like “regular” electric SUV will wear the ID.4 nameplate, while the coupe version will be named the ID.5.

Back in October, Automotive News reported the all-new ID.4 would hit showrooms in the United States in late 2020.

In the meantime, Volkswagen Canada, through its spokesman, Thomas Tetzlaff said to Automotive News Canada: “The first ID. car in Canada will be the production version of the ID. Crozz concept, which will arrive early in 2021.

Now, another media, Automobilwoche, is reporting that the same ID.4 will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show a month earlier, in March. The key takeaway here is that we should see the new ID.4 this spring.
