It will be replaced by a more modern design.
Rumours indicate a 5-door hatchback/crossover is likely.
Volkswagen will introduce six more ID models by 2027.
The Volkswagen ID. Life Concept was first introduced at last year’s International Motor Show IAA MOBILITY 2021 in Munich. The Life was meant to show the world what an all-electric urban runabout from the German automaker would look like. Despite the interest in the vehicle, Wolfsburg has ultimately decided to replace the concept.
The Volkswagen ID. Life Hints at a Future Small Affordable EV
Other than an interesting design, at least in our opinion, the ID. Life Study had another thing going for it and that was pricing. Volkswagen, upon introducing the concept, stated that the production version would launch by 2025 and be priced around 20,000 euros.
Upon revising its plans, Volkswagen has put the Life to bed and will instead focus on a 5-door hatchback-like Polo-sized EV. According to Automobilwoche(subscription required), this new small EV, which will still offer Golf-like interior dimensions, will launch as the ID.2 in 2025. An ID.2 X is expected to launch the following year as the crossover/SUV version.
In the coming years, Volkswagen will introduce six more ID. models including an ID.6 (for the global markets, not just China), the ID.7, the ID.7 X, and more.
