The ID.7 should be a midsized electric sedan.
Volkswagen has made some changes of late to its overall structure and EV plans, but they’ve not set aside its goal to soon flood the market with more EVs. For its encore in North America, it looks as though the German automaker will introduce the ID.7, or a midsize electric sedan.
The Volkswagen ID.Aero Concept is Unveiled, the Production Version will Follow
Volkswagen has teased a number of electric cars, as opposed to SUVs, concepts over the last few years. Of the lot, none was more exciting, nay sexy, than the ID. SPACE VIZZION concept wagon. One or more production versions of the Vizzion were supposed to become available for purchase in 2023 however various delays and global complications have put it off.
Included in the lot of concepts derived from the Vizzions was the Volkswagen ID. Aero Concept. A production version of this car is rumoured to officially break cover in only a few days at CES 2023. It will be based on the automaker’s MEB platform, which we now know will be around longer than initially thought. Power should come from a 77kWh battery that will feed a single rear-mounted electric motor or a pair of them for AWD capabilities.
The real question is what will Volkswagen call the car? ID.7 is the rumoured name however VW has said that they will keep the Golf and Tiguan names for future EVs models. Might the new 2024 midsized electric sedan become the new ePassat, à la eGolf?
