Volkswagen to Unveil the 2025 Jetta and Jetta GLI Next Week

Volkswagen will tell us everything about the 2025 Jetta on June 25th

– Volkswagen to introduce the refreshed 2025 Jetta and Jetta GLI on June 25th.

– Updated features should include new infotainment and safety technologies.

– Limited physical changes, but potential for minor powertrain enhancements.

Volkswagen is about to introduce an updated of its extremely popular compact sedan, the Jetta. Although this isn’t the introduction of an all-new generation Jetta, we though it worthwhile to quickly reflect on the enduring legacy of the Jetta.

2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Marks 40th Anniversary with Limited-Edition Trim

The Jetta made its debut in 1979, quickly establishing itself as a practical yet stylish choice in the compact sedan segment. Over the decades, it has undergone numerous transformations, each iteration reflecting various advancements and shifting consumer preferences. The 7th generation was introduced for the 2019 model year and followed up with a facelift for 2022.

In celebration of the Jetta GLI’s four-decade milestone, Volkswagen released a special 40th Anniversary Jetta edition last year. This commemorative model paid homage to the GLI’s rich history as being a GTI with a trunk.

Looking ahead, the 2025 Jetta and Jetta GLI are set to be once more updated to keep up with the still present competition in the compact car segment. With the Golf gone, the Jetta is VW’s only player in this still important and volume-heavy category. The new Jetta should feature updated infotainment functions, a new touchscreen interface, and numerous other improvements in safety, and technology.

2024 Volkswagen Jetta Trendline: a (more than) acceptable entry-level sedan

Physically, there’s only one notable visible feature and that’s Autobahn logo in the official images with the words” Let’s Go!” inscribed in what can only be the GLI’s lower front fascia.

In all likelihood, neither the 2025 Jetta will include significant powertrain updates. As for the GLI, might we hope that it will receive the upgraded GTI’s turbocharged 2.0T that’s good for 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque (up from 228 and 258)? Probably not. Let’s hope it keep the manual gearbox though…

We’ll find out more next Tuesday.
