Volvo Cars is fulfilling its promise to expand charging options for its fully electric vehicles across the United States and Canada by accessing Tesla’s Supercharger network, adding 17,800 charging stations to its infrastructure.
Starting with the 2025 model year, new fully electric Volvo models, including the flagship EX90 SUV, will be equipped with North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters, allowing them to use Tesla’s Supercharger network. Existing fully electric Volvo owners can also access these chargers by purchasing an adapter, now available at authorized Volvo retailers for US$230 in the United States and CA$310 in Canada. Shipments of adapters are scheduled to begin on November 18, 2024, with availability for the Volvo EX30 expected to be announced at a later date.
As of November 18, 2024, drivers will also have integrated access to Tesla Superchargers via the Volvo Cars app and built-in Google Maps. This service allows Volvo owners to find public charging points, check real-time availability, and manage payments directly within a single interface, streamlining the charging experience.
“Today we are taking a major step to providing access to easy and convenient charging infrastructure for Volvo drivers in the United States and Canada, furthering our commitment to EV adoption,” stated Mike Cottone, President of Volvo Car USA and Canada.
