The EX90 will be the brand’s new electric flagship
This model will integrate new technologies and new materials for the automaker
Seven different interior colour combinations will be offered
Volvo is currently preparing the unveiling of the EX90 electric flagship SUV, which is why the company keeps teasing some of its details.
The latest teaser is the first one to feature actual pictures of the vehicle, even if they are only closeups of interior materials.
The EX90 is said to be an important vehicle for Volvo due to its new safety and powertrain technologies as well as its reduced impact on the environment.
In order to offer a high level of comfort and luxury while also being more eco-friendly, Volvo chose sustainable materials to create the interior of its upcoming large SUV.
This means that the EX90 will feature interior plastics that include the highest percentage of recycled materials in any of the brand’s vehicles, as well as carpets made from recycled plastics.
The seats will also be covered in a choice of two materials: Wool or Nordico. Volvo has been offering wool-blend upholstery in most of its models for a few years already and it intends on expanding this practice, which uses wools that have been certified to be sustainable and free of animal cruelty.
Nordico is a new material, first seen in the C40 Recharge, that was created by the automaker from recycled plastic bottles and bio-attributed materials sourced from Scandinavian forests.
The two images released by Volvo show a closeup of a seat upholstered in grey wool as well as a section of the dashboard, in front of the passenger, which is covered with wood trim.
The wood used for this design element is also claimed to be certified for sustainability and Volvo says LED backlighting will be used to create a warm glow in the cabin.
A short video published by the automaker shows a few more details, including a few of the seven colour combinations that will be available depending on the exterior colour of the vehicle.
The images also show a brief glimpse at the vehicle’s center screen, which will be a vertically orientated, borderless design.
Volvo will officially unveil the EX90 electric SUV on November 9th.
