Volvo has introduced the new fully electric Volvo EX30 SUV to the Canadian market, placing a spotlight on affordability and sustainable mobility. The reveal took place during a media preview event in Montreal, where Volvo emphasized its commitment to electric vehicle technology, safety, and environmental responsibility.
With a starting price of $53,700.00, the EX30 stands as a compelling choice for those considering a shift to electric mobility. The model qualifies for federal and provincial EV incentives, ensuring competitive pricing against conventional internal combustion engine SUVs. Comprehensive pricing details, encompassing various powertrain options and equipment levels, will be unveiled later this year on the Volvocars.ca configurator.
The exterior design of the EX30 exhibits a balanced form, featuring a lengthy wheelbase, substantial wheels, and harmonious front and rear overhangs. The SUV’s signature Thor’s Hammer headlights are digitally reimagined, and a range of five vibrant exterior colors, including Cloud Blue and Moss Yellow, imbue the EX30 with a distinctive visual character.
Buyers of the EX30 can choose between two powertrain options to match their preferences and requirements. The Single Motor Extended Range rear-wheel-drive variant emphasizes an extended driving range, estimated at around 442 kilometers on a single charge. Conversely, the Twin Motor Performance variant features an additional front axle e-motor, delivering all-wheel drive capability and a powerful 422 horsepower, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.6 seconds.
Sustainability takes center stage as Volvo focuses on reducing carbon emissions throughout the vehicle’s life cycle. Thoughtful material selection has resulted in a carbon footprint of less than 30 tons over 200,000 kilometers of driving for the EX30.
In addition to the product offering, Volvo’s ‘One Price Promise’ guarantees a straightforward and transparent shopping experience. Furthermore, Volvo Car Canada plans to showcase the EX30 and other electric models across multiple locations in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, offering potential customers direct interactions with Volvo’s electric lineup and knowledgeable product specialists.
