VW Bozz Says Production Buzz Reveal March 9th

VW Bus is back March 9th

  • VW Group CEO Tweets Buzz teaser

  • Electric microvan expected to resemble concept Buzz

It’s (almost) van time! Volkswagen Group CEO Herbert Diess has just tweeted a rendering of the ID. Buzz electric van and said that it will be returning on the 9th of March.

We’ve seen the Buzz concept a few times already, in various shades and forms of camouflage and spy photo, and that can only mean one thing: Diess is referring to the production version of the vehicle, so the electric Microvan is getting much closer to hitting the road as well as Volkswagen dealers.

The Tweet says that “the legend returns on 03/09/22,” and Diess later clarified that he meant March 9 and not September 3rd, since he didn’t follow the official EU date format.

Chronology pedantics aside, the production Buzz has us all a buzz as well. VW has already said the van will be based on its all-new electric architecture. The van will have an NEDC-test range of up to 600 km, and it will offer 369 hp with all-wheel drive thanks to two electric motors.

We don’t think the production name will be Buzz, as VW’s other named ID. concepts have gained a numbered name instead as they went on sale. We don’t know what the name will be yet, though.

Volkswagen has previously said that the van won’t reach North American roads until sometime next year, though, as a 2024 model. So while we’re hyped for the production electric VW Bus, and Europe will probably see the EV driving around this year.
