Auction has thousands of classic Porsche bits
Exceptionally well-catalogued collection
Want to buy some air-cooled Porsche parts? How about buying ALL of the air-cooled Porsche 911 parts?
Now’s your chance, because there is an entire warehouse full of vintage Porsche bits up for sale on Bring a Trailer. The result of a lifetime of fixing Porsche vehicles.
The collection comes from Henry Schmidt of Supertec Performance in California. The warehouse includes “approximately” 50 engine cases as well as cylinder heads, crankshafts, and connecting rods. Used air-cooled Porsche engines can easily run into the 10s of thousands of dollars for a single one.
More than just engines are part of the sale. There are transmissions, Bosch mechanical fuel injection system parts, axles, bearings, hubs, springs, coilover systems, and brakes. Plus body panels and interior parts including seat shells.
The listing is loaded with photos and videos of all of the parts, including serial numbers for the engine cores that include rare and desirable Porsche 2.7 blocks.
What might be the best part is that all of these components are organized. The seller says that the sale “is an attempt to control a hoarding disorder” but we’ve never seen a hoarder collection this well laid out.
Schmidt also said that he wants to continue running his engine shop, but doesn’t have time for the parts business. So while you can buy all of the parts, you can also buy the entire business if you want. Just not part of the auction.
As of publishing, the bid was at $75,000. A steal for a collection of this many parts and some seriously rare parts.
