Win a Tesla Model Y: Tesla Referral Program Is Back And It’s Fairer

The Tesla referral program is back with a few less prizes, but a system that’s a lot more fair for everyone.

Tesla is bringing back one of its most successful marketing tools, the Tesla referral program. It’s not as generous as before, but you can still get a free Tesla Model Y by referring friends, colleagues, and family members to Tesla.

You could even win a Tesla Roadster. Both the Model Y and the Roadster are signed by Elon Musk and part of the automaker’s limited Founder’s Series collection. Every time you refer someone to Tesla who goes on to buy a Model 3, Model S or Model X, you’re name is entered into a draw for the Model Y or Roadster.

You and the person who buys the Tesla also get 1,000 miles (1,500 kilometers) of free Tesla Supercharging. The previous referral program which Tesla cut in early February of this year offered six months of supercharging access at no charge.

It also offered larger wheels of your Tesla, the possibility of having your photo launched into space through SpaceX (that’s so Tesla), a week with a Model S or Model X, Powerwall accessories, priority access to vehicle software upgrades and Tesla unveiling invitations.

The old Tesla referral program was certainly generous and packed with incentives, but it was also too costly which is why Tesla and Elon Musk pulled the plug a month ago.

Now, Tesla is back with a more conservative program that still has a lot to offer.

How The New 2019 Tesla Referral Program Works

When you refer a new buyer to Tesla, you get 1,000 miles or 1,500 kilometers of supercharging. You also get a chance to win a Tesla Model Y or Tesla Roadster through your name being entered in a draw.

The Model Y draw happens every month while the Roadster draw is quarterly. If you already have the free supercharging, you get two changes into the draw.

Should You Buy a 2019 Tesla Model X?

The referral is only valid after the vehicle has been delivered and is not applicable on Tesla Model Y orders. Moreover, Elon Musk says the draws aren’t raffles in the sense that you can’t win the prize again.

If you’ve won a Roadster, or you’ve won a Model Y, then that’s it. The idea is to make sure the same people with massive followings don’t win over and over again. Tesla says the first draw will be around May 1st. And so, time to call your friends.
