2007 Accord becomes exotic tribute
It’s got half the engine, is that enough?
The cheap mid-engined car lead to the golden age of the kit car. It was easy to turn a Pontiac Fiero or Toyota MR-2 into a Ferrari replica that even had the engine in the right place. As long as you ignored that the proportions were all wrong and that the engine was just a four-cylinder. So what to do now that the cheap mid-engines are gone? You turn a Honda Accord sedan into a Lamborghini Aventador instead.
This Accordvador (Aventacord?) comes to us via Maxabout.com, and it’s running the roads in India. The car was put together by Executive Modecar Trendz, and while it’s far from perfect it doesn’t seem all that bad. By replica standards, at least.
Sure, it’s not easy when you started with a four-door car and you want it to look like two, but there probably aren’t many Accord Coupes in India. The car gets Aventador-knockoff head and taillights, plus scissor doors and a rear exhaust system that at least looks the part. As usual, though, it’s the base proportions that let the side down and you can see the extra-long “engine cover” louvres in the back that are far too tall and don’t have an engine underneath.
It still packs the 3.0L V6 of the standard Accord, meaning 221 hp and approximately zero of the real supercar experience. If you want one, the company will build you one for 25 lakhs, which is about CAD 44,000.
Not exactly a bargain, but still a fraction the cost of the real thing.
