We’re not sure if we’re amused or annoyed with these teasers, but it matters not. Less than a week ago, Toyota shared a picture depicting the front end of a new car. The internet believes it’s the new Camry but we’re holding out for a GR Prius – we’ll see who’s right. Right now however, this new image has us not quite stumped.
This press release is no more helpful than the last as it simply states the following:
“Something New is Just Around the Corner. With All-Wheel Drive, this hybrid electric mid-size SUV goes beyond what’s expected. C u … soon.”
The emphasis on the “C”, which looks like the Camry’s “C” has us thinking that this midsize hybrid AWD SUV may turn out to be the new Crown SUV.
As SUVs rules the world, a Crown SUV will somehow fit nicely alongside the equally hybrid AWD midsize Venza and below the 4Runner in Toyota’s growing collection of two-row SUVs. Having said that, we think the Venza could be phased out sooner rather than later and replaced with a future bZ all-electric SUV leaving the Crown SUV more breathing room.
Once again, the press release does not hint at reveal dates though this week is Tokyo Motor Show week so it won’t be long before Toyota’s secrets are revealed.
