The upgrade is delivered via OTA.
Output jumps to 476 horsepower from 408.
For all the right reasons, this is the type of modification present and future EV owners will crave. Polestar has just introduced an over-the-air performance software upgrade for Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor owners, and they should all get it.
2022 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor First Drive Review: A Volume Move
The convenience of an OTA is almost disturbingly too easy. For this update, owners can buy it from the Polestar extras web shop, and it’ll be sent to the car. For all intents and purposes, it’s actually inexpensive at a reported 1,000€ or about $1,135 US.
For that sum, Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor owners will see their car’s output rise from 408 horsepower and 487 lb.-ft. of torque to 476 and 502 respectively. This upgrade drops the car’s 0-100km/h to 4.2 seconds from 4.5 and best of all, because it’s from the factory, it does not affect your warranty.
The performance software enhancement also has the distinction of not increasing the Polestar 2’s energy consumption. While it’s not specifically mentioned, we think this means the Long range Dual motor 2 will maintain its EPA 400km of range.
