Fully adaptable suspension coming on new 2021 Can-Am Maverick X3
The 2021 Can-Am Maverick X3 X rs Turbo RR (did we get that right?) will feature an industry-first Smart-Shox self-adjustable suspension.
Expected this fall, the new technology controls both compression and rebound to improve precision and enhance performance and comfort. The adjustments can be made at the touch of a button as opposed to requiring manual adjustments.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or a weekend warrior, this technology will make your rides better,” says Casey Currie, winner of the 2020 Dakar Rally in a Can-Am Maverick X3. “Smart-Shox is one of those game-changing innovations that brings a smile to my face knowing I’ll have a competitive advantage over anything else out there. With Smart-Shox, the Maverick X3 sticks to the ground in a way I’ve never experienced, and I can’t wait to get out and race.”
The system monitors the wheel position as well as velocity to modify both compression and rebound. The Smart-Shox system is also lightning quick, going from fully soft to fully firm in 0.017s. The goal is to improve traction, launches, and comfort on uneven terrain.
Like in a high-performance vehicle, Smart-Shox can also adjust on the fly, making real-time adjustments in order to enhance control on every type of terrain and situation. Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ driving modes will be available.
The system will also improve comfort as imperfections and undulating terrain will be smoothed out.
The system launches this fall. The 2021 Can-Am Maverick X3 starts at $23,299 in Canada.
