The CX-5 compact SUV is a key player for the Japanese automaker. The current 2nd generation Mazda CX-5 was introduced for the 2017 model year to critical acclaim. Its classy design, upscale interior, and efficient drivetrain have made it a favorite among discerning compact SUV buyers. And now, it’s been freshly updated for the 2022 model year.
The main enhancements made to the 2022 Mazda CX-5 were done to the SUV’s physique. The front end gains a new signature wing-like style grille extensions. The grille itself is updated with a three-dimensional texture. Both the headlights and taillights are redesigned with a pair of horizontally spaced, rectangular LED lights. Other touches include new alloy wheels.
The 2022 CX-5 GT models are further distinguished by the new Sport Appearance Package. It includes gloss black exterior accents while the interior features red highlights and stitching. The top-line Signature trim gains a unified exterior color scheme, and the interior is arranged with premium quality materials such as Nappa leather and genuine woodgrain. Seats for all models are revised for more comfort.
Standard for all 2022 CX-5 will be the addition of Mazda’s i-Activ AWD system. It will be joined by a new Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) which includes a number of drive modes for optimized driving capabilities. Finally, the suspension is updated via a revised dampening control structure and increased frame rigidity.
