2025 Audi Q6 e-tron Ends Range Anxiety with 625 km Between Charges

Audi CEO Calls Q6 e-Tron Game Changer: 'This is the Future of Electric SUVs'

– Audi unveils the Q6 e-tron electric SUV, promising top performance, range, and charging speed.

– Features 100 kWh battery with 625 km range, 380 kW output, and innovative design and tech.

– Priced at 74,700 euros (approx $110,000), it’s Audi’s flagship electric vehicle, highlighting a shift to electric by 2027.

Audi AG took the wraps off its new Q6 e-tron electric SUV on Monday, a flagship model that the German premium carmaker says will set new standards for performance, range and charging speed among battery-powered luxury vehicles.

Speaking at the world premiere in Ingolstadt, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner hailed the Q6 e-tron as “the next technological leap in premium electric mobility” built upon the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) developed jointly with Porsche.

“The PPE shows how we are pooling expertise within the Volkswagen Group and thus making electric mobility scalable,” Döllner said.

The Q6 e-tron represents a major stride in Audi’s transition to electric vehicles across its core model segments by 2027. Audi said the midsize SUV, measuring 4.77 meters (15.6 ft) long, offered a spacious five-seat interior and up to 1,529 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded.

Powered by a 100-kilowatt-hour battery, the Q6 e-tron quattro boasts a range of up to 625 km (388 miles) under WLTP test cycles. Audi said its 800-volt electrical architecture enables charging from 10% to 80% battery capacity in just 21 minutes from a high-powered station.

The Q6 e-tron stands out with dual electric motors producing up to 380 kilowatts of output, accelerating the top SQ6 variant from 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. By comparison, Audi’s current e-tron electric SUVs use older 400-volt architecture limited to 150 kW motors.

Design changes include a new interpretation of Audi’s signature ‘singleframe’ grille while maintaining a powerful SUV stance. But the Q6 debuts a raft of technical innovations inside, led by new active digital LED headlight and taillamp signatures that Audi says are a world first.

Other highlights are a curved 27-inch digital instrument and infotainment display powered by the new E3 1.2 electrical architecture, the latest voice-activated Audi assistant and the option of an augmented-reality head-up display spanning nearly the full windshield.

Audi said its new battery assembly at the Ingolstadt plant would build the Q6 e-tron’s lithium-ion battery packs, part of a broader effort to strengthen the facility’s manufacturing capabilities for electric models. Prices will start at 74,700 euros (approx $110,000 CDN) in Germany when first editions arrive this summer.

While later than premium rivals like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Volvo in shifting its lineup to battery power, the Q6 e-tron allows Audi to field a true ground-up flagship electric vehicle in the profitable luxury SUV segment for the first time.

“Built on the new PPE platform, the Audi Q6 e-tron is the next technological leap in premium electric mobility for our customers,” Döllner said.
