Mustang Mach-E gets heat pump for winter range
BlueCruise adds automated lane changes
Ford is changing up the Mach-E for 2025. The electric Ford Mustang will get a heat pump as standard across the line to use less energy to keep you warm. It will also add a sportier appearance package on more grades and have the latest version of Ford’s hands-off BlueCruise driver assist software.
The new heat pump is the most significant upgrade for the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Heat pumps use much less electricity than the old grid heater to keep the cabin warm, which means they will keep more of their range whenever the thermometer drops into heating temperatures.
Ford’s Sport Appearance Package adds some of the 2025 Mustang Mach-E GT’s styling cues to Premium grade models. That includes its black faux front grille as well as red painted Brembo brake calipers. The pacakge will also include black trim and wheels, with red accent stitching inside. Every Premium model, appearance package or not, gets ventilated front seats and a column-mounted gear selector.
BlueCruise 1.5 now includes automatic lane changes. The system can change lanes for you on the highway, to pass a slower car, for exampole. The system will signal and move over when it detects a gap. It will, and thanks for this, Ford, move out of the left lane if someone is following you too closely.
Ford claims the new system will automate up to 45 percent of driver-initiated lane changes on a typical drive. Along with the new system comes new ways to pay for it. The new vehicle comes with a 90-day trial, and there will be one-year plans and one-time purchase options to buy it.
Lastly, there are three new optional colours. Buyers can now pick Molten Magenta Metallic, Velocity Blue, and Desert Sand.
Ford has cut the starting price for the 2025 Mustang Mach-E as well. When it arrives at dealers in early 2025, it will start from $52,995, down $2,000 from 2024 despite the extra equipment.
