UPDATE: Toyota Canada has advised us that, although the Lexus TX550h+ is coming, it won’t be for the 2026 model year.
Plug-in hybrid SUV with 404 hp and 53 km electric range for Canadian drivers.
DIRECT4 AWD and 5,000-lb towing make the TX550h+ versatile for all seasons.
Executive-grade interior features premium materials, 22″ wheels, and advanced safety tech.
Lexus is about to introduce the 2026 TX550h+, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with a three-row layout. It was first announced two years and now, the wait is almost over. As part of its expanding electrified portfolio, the TX550h+ combines a 3.5-litre V6 engine, two-motor hybrid system, and DIRECT4 all-wheel drive to deliver 404 total system horsepower and an estimated 53-kilometre electric-only driving range.

Available exclusively in the Executive grade trim, the TX550h+ targets Canadian buyers looking for plug-in hybrid performance without compromising interior space, towing capacity, or comfort. A confirmed on-sale date and Canadian pricing will be shared closer to launch.
Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain with DIRECT4 AWD
The 2026 Lexus TX550h+ is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine working in tandem with a two-motor plug-in hybrid system. Together, they generate 404 hp and enable a towing capacity of up to 2,268 kilograms (5,000 lb). The DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system manages torque distribution between the axles, shifting from 100:0 to 20:80 depending on road conditions and traction needs.

A high-capacity lithium-ion battery, mounted beneath the floor, supports the vehicle’s 53 km estimated EV range and contributes to a lower centre of gravity. The TX550h+ includes a J1772 port for both at-home and public charging infrastructure in Canada.
Interior Design, Seating Capacity and Cargo Space
The TX550h+ Executive offers a premium three-row cabin with seating for six or seven, depending on configuration. Features include:
- Semi-aniline leather upholstery
- Heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs (6-passenger variant)
- Power-folding third-row seats
- 22-inch alloy wheels
- Panoramic moonroof

Cargo volume is rated at 572 litres behind the third row, expanding to 2,747 litres with both second and third rows folded flat. The second-row slide assist mechanism facilitates easier access to the third row.
Infotainment, Connectivity, and Safety Features
The 2026 TX550h+ plug-in hybrid is equipped with a suite of connected technologies designed for convenience and long-distance travel. Standard features include:
- 14-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen display
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
- Seven USB-C ports across all three rows
- Digital key functionality
- Optional 21-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system

For safety, all TX models include Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which features:
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
- All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
- Lane Tracing Assist and Lane Departure Alert
- Road Sign Assist and Proactive Driving Assist
- Traffic Jam Assist (available via subscription)
- Advanced Park and Head-Up Display (available)
Built in North America for the Canadian Market
The 2026 Lexus TX550h+ is the first Lexus PHEV assembled in North America, manufactured at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana (TMMI). Lexus now offers three electrified SUVs with available third-row seating as part of its electrification strategy for the Canadian market.

While the TX350 and TX500h variants are already on sale, the TX550h+ will join the lineup in Canada within the next few months, with pricing to be confirmed closer to its market release.
