The $5’000 rebate only applies to the Ariya crossover.
The Quebec provincial rebate should come back in April.
While the new trade war may be dominating the news right now, we mustn’t forget another factor that came into effect in the last few days. As of Saturday, electric vehicles sold on Quebec soil are no longer eligible for government rebates, regardless of origin.

We already knew that the federal rebate was discontinued on January 10, but in the last few days, the Quebec rebate has also been put on ice. But the good news is that automakers, inundated with complaints and now less attractive electric vehicles, are forced to counter-attack with an in-house rebate.
The latest is Nissan, which is continuing its $5,000 rebate on all Ariya crossovers across the entire Canadian dealer network for the whole month of February.

Nissan has not included the aging Leaf in this discount, as it is less expensive than the Ariya, which looks almost Infiniti-like next to the electric city car.
Let’s not forget that the Japanese automaker, which is already struggling with a major restructuring, joined its competitors Volkswagen and Hyundai just a few days after announcing the withdrawal of the federal rebate for the iZEV program.
It will be interesting to see whether Nissan‘s $5,000 will remain in place when Quebec’s so-called incentives return to the table next April.

At the time of writing, there’s very little chance that the Ariya will be affected by the counter-tariffs imposed by Canada, in response to the offensive led by Donald Trump’s government in recent days. Indeed, the electric crossover is produced in Japan, the nation that is not targeted by the United States and its 25% tariffs.
