For 2025, Volkswagen is changing its strategy with the Taos transmission. The seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission is replaced by an eight-speed automatic.
- Mid-term aesthetic changes are also planned for the Volkswagen Taos 2025.
For 2025, the Volkswagen Taos will receive a mid-term update. Changes to this subcompact SUV include the removal of the seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and its replacement is a conventional eight-speed automatic.
Introduced for the 2022 model year, the Volkswagen Taos competes in the subcompact SUV segment with the Honda HR-V, Subaru Crosstrek and Toyota Corolla Cross. Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine. It develops 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.
Until now, this engine has been mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for versions equipped with the 4Motion four-wheel drive system. For the 2025 model year, this will be replaced by a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission. It will be interesting to see how the driving experience evolves following this change in transmission strategy.
In the near future, we’ll know more about the other new features for the Volkswagen Taos in 2025.
