Just 50 Gotham Gray cars to be built
PMC means hand-assembled vehicles from Acura
Acura is launching another hand-built special edition. The 2023 Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition in Gotham Gray is the latest in a growing line of ultra-exclusive Acura models that are built on the line where the NSX supercar would normally be bolted together.
PMC Edition refers to the Performance Manufacturing Center. The special line where low-volume vehicles like the Acura NSX supercar are painstakingly put together by specially trained Acura staff.
This latest PMC Edition TLX Type S is painted in Gotham Gray matte paint, which was one of the signature colours of the NSX. Like this gray ghost, the other PMC edition TLX, RDX, and MDX models have used colours taken from the NSX supercar.
Other PMC touches include a dyno check, paint inspection, and a rough-road simulation to ensure the cars are built to Acura’s best. PMC cars are shipped in a specially designed cover and sent to dealers in enclosed single-car carriers to make them feel extra special.
Apart from the paint, TLX Type S PMC Edition cars get black door handles and side sill garnish. They’ll also have 20-inch wheels that are NSX-inspired. Carbon garnish for the lip spoiler, side sills, and rear diffuser finish off the exterior changes.
Inside, the Gotham Gray TLX gets carbon fibre trim panels, illuminated side sills, and “premium floor mats.” Special. The seats are red Milano leather and have Ultrasuede inserts. Of course, there will be a serialised plaque on the dash to show which of the specials you’re driving.
That number will be a small one. Just 50 TLX Type S PMC Edition cars finished in Gotham Gray will be sold. Pricing starts from $65,000, and they’ll likely sell out in a hurry.
