The latest generation Audi A5 is stunning; there’s no other way to say it. Few other cars blend elegance and attitude in a more subtle and desirable way. As well, there’s a version for everyone: Be it is as a coupe, convertible or our favorite, the 5-door Sportback, you can opt for regular strength A5, extra-strength S5 and the Herculean-strength RS 5.
The RS 5 is only available as a 2-door, or at least that was the case. It appears as though the latter BMW “M” and Mercedes AMG fighting RS 5 will soon be offered with three extra doors. Lord almighty! That’s right! In an interview, Audi of America President Scott Keogh confirmed the RS 5 Sportback will launch in the United States. We’ve no details for Canada as of yet but we want to believe the odds are in our favour.
As a reminder, the RS 5 (and dead-sexy RS 4) share a 2.9-litre TFSI bi-turbo V6 that produces 450 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint is over and done with in just under 4 seconds.
