Report says to expect lower-power Dodge EV
GT model a big deal on current gas car
There will be lower-power and lower-priced Dodge Charger Daytona models. A new report says sources inside the company are talking about GT models that are expected to join the lineup next year.
Dodge launched the all-electric Charger Daytona models last month with R/T and Scat Pack trims. They were both all-wheel drive thanks to twin motors and offered at least 456 hp. Though the company didn’t announce pricing, we’re not expecting them to be cheap.
One of the best features of the outgoing gas-powered Charger and Challenger models was that you could get the look of the V8 beasts with a more affordable and more economical V6. MoparInsiders says its sources say that the trend will continue.
An RWD version of the Dodge Charger Daytona, likely badged GT, will arrive sometime in the second half of next year, the report says. It will be offered on both two and four-door models.
For now the power levels are a guess, but a number lower than the 300 hp of the current 3.6L V6 model is very unlikely.
As cool as the Scat Packs are, it’s the V6 models that sell in volume. This makes cars like this anticipated RWD Daytona GT almost a must for the brand as it moves to electric. Keep the price reasonable and the range in the area of 450-500 km, and it will likely be appealing to a new generation of Dodge buyers.
